New housing is in the works at several Air Force bases: Barksdale AFB, La., Bolling AFB, D.C., Eielson AFB, Alaska, and Langley AFB, Va. The Shreveport Times reports that Barksdale, Bolling, Langley are covered under a single privatized development plan called BLB Housing that will cover construction or renovation of 3,146 housing units, beginning within a year. According to an Eielson release, the Eielson project, which includes 16 four-plexes and three duplexes—70 new homes—will begin this summer.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
