The Air Force plan to realign its Air and Space Expeditionary Force Center under the Air Force Personnel Center does include shifting the AEF Center from Langley AFB, Va., to Randolph AFB, Tex. And, that effort is now underway. AFPC at Randolph renamed the AEF center in June to AEF Operations. Since USAF announced the shift last year, AFPC has worked to consolidate computer systems and begin facility construction upgrades to accommodate some 200 additional personnel. All is on track, according to an Air Force release, for the shift from Langley to Randolph in September 2008.
The Air Force is planning to spend $2.19 billion over the next five years to acquire new C-37 jets for transporting military and civilian leaders. That’s on top of another $1.17 billion in projected funding for the VC-25B “Air Force One” replacement.
