Zbigniew Brzezinski told reporters in Washington Wednesday that he believes the “severely stretched” US forces fighting the war on terror have done their job well. “In a country of 25 million people with only 130,000 US troops, the military is by and large doing a good job,” said the former national security advisor. Brzezinski also found it remarkable that only about one-third of US troops are serving in a combat role in Iraq.
There is no timeline yet on when, if ever, trainees might be expected to bear actual weapons at Basic Military Training, the head of the 37th Training Wing said Sept. 18. But Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force David Flosi said he views that as the “desired end state.”
