Where once operated the “Blue Cube” could be a BMW dealership or a pricey hotel—well, perhaps not. Melanie Carroll of the Palo Alto Daily News reports that the Pentagon has yet to weigh in on the future for Onizuka AFS, Calif., after its 2011 BRAC-induced demise. And, federal agencies get first shot. The city of Sunnyvale apparently has asked for some extra money and an extension until next summer to make its recommendation. Meanwhile, the VA has put in a bid for some of the land and some local area affordable housing groups have expressed interest.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
