Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue hosted a kickoff for USAF’s 60th anniversary celebration this week in Atlanta, marking the start of events that will run up to Atlanta’s Air Force Week celebration from Oct. 8-14. The theme for USAF’s 60th anniversary is “Heritage to Horizons.” Air Force Reserve Command is hosting the Atlanta events and MSgt. John Cowman, who is co-chairman of Atlanta’s Air Force Week committee and a Reserve loadmaster at Dobbins ARB, Ga., said that current plans include partnering with the Georgia Air Show in Peachtree City and the Air Force Ball in Cobb County.
The rate of building B-21 bombers would speed up if the fiscal 2026 defense budget passes. But it remains unclear how much capacity would be added, and whether the Air Force would simply build the bombers faster, or buy more.
