The American public evidently does not tire of national security news. According to a McCormick Tribune Foundation/ Gallup poll released Wednesday, 60 percent of Americans say they don’t get enough information about military matters; they want more so they can make educated decisions.
Amid a renewed focus on readiness, Congress moved to keep the Air Force’s shrinking combat fleet from getting even smaller in the latest version of its annual defense policy bill, blocking scores of divestments of two major fourth-generation fighters.
