NATO has said it will send out a rapid reaction force to aid earthquake relief operations in Pakistan, according to the London Daily Telegraph. There’s just no indication when that might be. A senior NATO official told the Telegraph that the alliance wants to put the NATO Response Force to work, since the NRF was formed two years ago. “If they are not used this time then who will use us?” the official said. A new report from the Government Accountability Office calls for the Pentagon’s Chief Technology Officer to have budget certification authority over the military services’ research and development accounts—a move the services say would add a burdensome and unnecessary layer of bureaucracy.
