Rep. Ellen Tauscher, in her meeting with reporters (see above), delivered a ringing vote of confidence for the current Secretary of the Air Force, Michael Wynne. “By the way, I think we’re very lucky to have somebody like Secretary Wynne, who has a tremendous pedigree in acquisition in that job right now,” said Tauscher. “I just wish we were giving him more money to do more.”
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
