Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, held a short town hall meeting at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, Friday, to say thank you to the troops. Pace told the airmen, soldiers, sailors, and coast guardsmen in the audience, “I want to say thanks to you for all you do and all you have done, and unfortunately, some of the things that we are going to have to ask you to do in the future.”
The Air Force is spending heavily on F-22 improvements through the end of the decade, suggesting it may not retire the jet in 2030 as it previously planned. New sensors, fuel tanks, communications, and electronic warfare systems are among the upgrades that comprise the package.
