The Air Force issued long-overdue Distinguished Flying Crosses to nine Army Air Forces airmen in a Capitol Hill ceremony. Gen. Michael Moseley, Chief of Staff, presented the medals for the crew’s actions during the July 15, 1944 attack on the Nazi-controlled oil refineries around Ploesti, Romania. Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
