A new Air Force employee failed to notify DOD about the service’s contract awards for the month of December. (If only we could have a do-over day, now and then.) DOD posts high-value contract announcements on its Web site each day, as a public notification tool. On Monday, the DOD contracts carried the entire list of USAF’s December contracts—numbering 57 and amounting to about $4 billion. Some of the winning contractors, of course, already had made public announcements at the time they received the contracts. (The list is included in this Pentagon news release.)
Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control received a $122.6 million installment on an ongoing contract to improve production of the AGM-158 JASSM/LRASM stealth missiles, the Pentagon announced March 14. The weapons have become the key standoff munitions for USAF’s combat air forces.
