The Pentagon confirmed the death of A1C Elizabeth N. Jacobson, who was killed Sept. 28 while on convoy duty in Iraq. The 21-year-old native of Riviera Beach, Fla., was killed near Camp Bucca, when an improvised explosive device exploded next to her vehicle. Jacobson was assigned to the 17th Security Forces Squadron, Goodfellow AFB, Tex.
A new report from the Government Accountability Office calls for the Pentagon’s Chief Technology Officer to have budget certification authority over the military services’ research and development accounts—a move the services say would add a burdensome and unnecessary layer of bureaucracy.
