The Georgia State Patrol discovered the wreckage of the Navy T-39 Sabreliner about 10 p.m. on Jan. 11. There were no survivors, a Navy spokesman told CNN Radio. There were two Navy personnel, one civilian contractor, and an Air Force member on board the training jet, which was en route to its home base at NAS Pensacola, Fla. The scene of the crash was a mountainous area in Walker County, about 30 miles south of Chattanooga, Tenn. The aircraft had taken off from the airport in Chattanooga at about 11 a.m. and last made radio contact about 20 minutes later.
Members of Congress from both parties expressed frustration and dismay over the abrupt and still-unexplained firing last month of Air Force Gen. Timothy Haugh from his dual role as head of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency.
