About 80 airmen and C-130s from the Air Force Reserve’s 910th Airlift Wing returned Thursday to Youngstown ARS, Ohio, from a 120 day deployment to Southwest Asia. The airmen are the first half of the total deployed contingent from the 757th Airlift Squadron. The unit has repeatedly deployed to the region, and flew the 2014 airdrop mission that provided relief to Yazidis that fled ISIS to Mount Sinjar, Iraq.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
