Military retirees and active duty dependents can take an American Red Cross-sponsored dental assistant training program at no cost, and they’ll find it available at bases around the world. It’s a six-month course that includes learning the function of dental instruments by working alongside dentists. Once completed, the trainee gets a Red Cross certificate that “qualifies them to work in the civilian sector,” according to an Air Combat Command release, which notes also that the need for dental assistants is on the rise. The Air Force has finished modifying and testing the new VC-25B Bridge aircraft that will serve as a temporary Air Force One, the service announced May 1. All that’s left now is to finish painting the jet before it starts flying this summer.
