The Navy names a 670-foot-long ship after Air Force Tech Sgt. John A. Chapman, the combat controller who was killed in 2002 in Afghanistan and later decorated with the Medal of Honor. The pre-positioning ship, used to forward deploy Air Force munitions and other supplies, is one of 35 of its type that the Navy’s Military Sealift Command operates.
Brig. Gen. Clarence E. “Bud” Anderson, the last surviving triple ace from World War II, was honored one last time by the nation's top Airmen when he was buried here with full military honors March 30.
