The Space Force broke ground on a new ‘Space Campus’ at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar on Jan. 14 in a move officials say will boost space operations and capabilities in the Middle East.

The Space Force stood up the 5th Space Warning Squadron and its Detachment 4 in Japan to oversee active/passive defense and attack operations for JTAGS, a new mission taken on from the Army.
The Space Force assumed official control of the Joint Tactical Ground Station (JTAGS) missile warning system from the Army on Oct. 1, one of the final milestones in the Space Force’s consolidation of many space missions across the services.
