Testers at Edwards AFB, Calif., are evaluating new software for the C-5M transport, according to a base release. The Super Galaxy’s “Block 3.5.2 software upgrade is intended to correct 72 deficiency reports that were documented during previous C-5M test programs,” said Joel Williams, C-5 lead engineer for Edwards’ 775th Test Squadron, in the May 9 release. Testers at Dover AFB, Del., initially modified this particular C-5M airframe, before sending it to Edwards. This work included adding upgrades to “the automatic flight control system, auto throttle, display services, embedded diagnostic system, and flight management system,” states the release.
