Pentagon spokesman Peter Cook, in a Thursday briefing, said the Defense Department is aware of the reports and they “cause us concern.” “Any reports like this should be completely investigated,” Cook said. The killings reportedly happen in villages in the al-Shura and al-Qayyara sub-districts of the Ninewa province, according to the report.
