Air Combat Command announced that an MQ-1 Predator unmanned aerial vehicle crashed at about 8:58 a.m. Sept. 11 at Holloman AFB, N.M. The UAV was assigned to the 432nd Wing headquartered at Creech AFB, Nev. It was engaged in a training mission. The ACC release said no one was injured and no private property was damaged. The accident is under investigation.
The United States Air Force is flying less than historic norms and funding for acquisition and readiness is on a path to further hollow out this too small and old force to that is incapable of sustaining an enduring combat air campaign.
