Twenty-five Air Force civilians began the first civilian acculturation and leadership training program Oct. 27 at Air University’s Officer Training School on the grounds of Maxwell AFB, Ala. The two-week course is adapted from OTS instruction. “The program stems from the need to ensure our civilian developmental paths are as deliberate as those of every other airman,” said Joseph McDade, force development director in the Air Staff’s personnel directorate. The students, each of which has worked with the Air Force for at least two years, will attend classes on leadership, teambuilding, and communication, and end with a course on war games. The CALT curriculum also includes blocks on supervising civilians, writing civilian performance appraisals, and classes on budgeting. (Maxwell report by Christine Harrison)
