President Barack Obama on Wednesday announced his intent to nominate Lisa Disbrow to be the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Financial Management. Disbrow has served as the vice director for force structure, resources, and assessment on the Joint Staff since 2009. She is a retired Air Force Reserve colonel who served in a variety of roles, including as an operational planner, electronic intelligence analyst, and programming officer. If confirmed, Disbrow would replace Jamie Morin who was nominated in September 2013 to be the Pentagon’s director of cost assessment and program evaluation. Obama also announced on Wednesday his intent to nominate Laura Junor to be principal deputy undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness. Junor currently serves as the deputy assistant secretary of defense for readiness.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth this week released strategies meant to focus the Pentagon’s “alphabet soup” of innovation organizations and proliferate artificial intelligence—moves that experts say could provide the structure needed to make the military’s efforts to integrate and field new technology more effective.
