President Obama will host French President François Hollande at the White House, and Defense Secretary Ash Carter will host French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian at the Pentagon on Tuesday, less than two weeks after terrorist attacks in Paris killed 130 people. On Friday, the United Nations Security Council unanimously adopted a resolution calling on member countries that can do so “to take all ?necessary measures” against ISIS and “eradicate the safe haven they have established over significant parts of Iraq and Syria.” In a speech Sunday in Malaysia, Obama said the Paris attacks are not the “new normal,” and said the international coalition in Syria and Iraq will “destroy” ISIS. Hollande met with British Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday in Paris.
A new Air Force organization is searching for counter-drone firms to participate in a dozen or more exercises to help create operating plans by the end of this year for defending the service’s U.S.-based installations from drone attacks.
