7 Air Force B-2s Drop 14 Bunker-Buster Bombs on Iran

The U.S. military struck three Iranian nuclear sites in the early hours of June 22 local time in Operation Midnight Hammer, intended to shut down Iran’s nuclear program without harming the country’s leadership. U.S. Air Force B-2 bombers and submarine-launched cruise missiles struck three sites: Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.

The U.S. strike on Iran's nuclear development facilities saw the first use of the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, a weapon specifically designed for such a mission more than 20 years ago. The Air Force B-2s were the only platform with the stealth and carrying capacity needed to haul the huge weapons to the target.

Marine Tapped to Lead F-35 Joint Program Office

President Donald Trump has nominated Marine Lt. Gen. Gregory Masiello to head the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program. Masiello is currently the head of the Defense Contract Management Agency and previously led the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor program.
