The first Romanian airmen to attend US Air Forces in Europe’s Kisling Noncommissioned Officer Academy at Kapaun AS, Germany, graduated at the end of October. Plutonier (technical sergeant equivalent) Diana-Cristina Mireuta, an air traffic controller at the 90th Airlift Base in Bucharest, completed the six-week course alongside her US Air Force NCO peers. “I really didn’t know what to expect before I came here,” she said, adding, “I thought the emphasis would be on physical training, but I was so happy with all the leadership training we received.” Mireuta participated in the course as part of USAFE’s International Military Education and Training program, which aims to build the capacity of European partner air forces, with an emphasis on NCO development. Members of the House Armed Services Committee say the AIM-260 Joint Advanced Tactical Missile program has been set back three months due to the ongoing government shutdown. The comment is noteworthy because the JATM's status has been kept tightly under wraps.
