Officials at Schriever AFB, Colo., cut the ceremonial ribbon to open the renovated building now housing the base’s Airman and Family Readiness Center. “Ten years ago, the Schriever Air Force Base Airman and Family Readiness Center stood up in a temporary facility on the outskirts of the base,” said William Sokolis, Schriever’s A&FRC chief, at the Nov. 20 opening ceremony. He added, “We’re happy to finally have a place we can call home for the time being where we can help airmen and their families.” The new facility is a former bagel restaurant adjacent to the Ent Federal Credit Union building between the 50th Space Wing headquarters building and the most populated area of the base, according to Schriever’s Nov. 21 release. “Being within walking distance from most of the squadrons on base, I think more people will use our services,” said TSgt. Tina Johnson of the center. (Schriever report by 2nd Lt. Jason Gabrick)
