Expanding its C-40 Ops

The Air Force plans to position three C-40 medium transport aircraft with Air Force Reserve Command’s 932nd Airlift Wing at Scott AFB, Ill., next year. And, the service plans to create an active associate unit whose airmen will share operation and upkeep for said C-40s with 932nd AW airmen. At last count, USAF had seven C-40s, flown by active and Air National Guard units operating out of Andrews AFB, Md., Hickam AFB, Hawaii, and Ramstein AB, Germany. They’re used primarily to transport VIPs.
