Feds Say Connecticut Is Wrong on ANG Airplanes

Some of the lawsuits launched last fall to challenge Pentagon and BRAC 2005 commission decisions are still going strong, including the State of Connecticut’s effort to prevent DOD from removing the 15 A-10s of the 103rd Fighter Wing. In federal court Wednesday, the Associated Press reports, the US Attorney General’s office argued that Gov. Jodi Rell controls the fate of the state’s Air National Guard base, but not the Warthogs that are part of the unit since the aircraft belong to DOD. Rell has claimed the removal of the A-10s violates her rights as Commander in Chief of the Connecticut Air National Guard. The US District Court is expected to issue a ruling sometime this summer.
