Any Venue to Attract Young Scientists:

The Air Force Office of Scientific Research displayed some of its wares recently during the 4th Annual Team America Rocketry Challenge national finals at The Plains, Va., as a means to attract the rare young people with an interest in science. The event is a model rocket competition for high school and middle school students across the country and is billed by organizers as the world’s largest model rocket competition. This year’s event drew some 678 teams. “With so many aspiring scientists and science enthusiasts in attendance, team rocketry challenge is an excellent way to promote AFOSR as a great place to work and as a solid partner in the world of science,” said Col. Jeffrey Turcotte, AFOSR deputy director.
