Officer Movements Announced

President Donald Trump has nominated Maj. Gen. Mary O’Brien for a third star and assignment as deputy chief of staff for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance, cyber effects operations, at USAF headquarters. If confirmed, O’Brien, who currently serves as the commander of 25th Air Force at JBSA-Lackland, Texas, would replace Lt. Gen. VeraLinn “Dash” Jamieson.

The Air Force earlier this year merged its ISR and cyber effects headquarters staffs, and Jamieson was confirmed as commander of the combined office on Feb. 28 after serving as the deputy chief of staff for ISR since November 2016.

Also, USAF Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein on May 24 assigned multiple officers to new leadership positions, including:

  • Maj. Gen. Lenny Richoux, currently the commander of Joint Enabling Capabilities Command at US Transportation Command, to the director of manpower and personnel on the Joint Staff.
  • Col. Christopher Amrhien, commander of the 100th Air Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall, England, has been selected to become a brigadier general and for assignment as the deputy chief of staff support for Resolute Support and director, CJ4, US Forces-Afghanistan in Kabul.
  • Col. David Mineau, the director of Joint and National Security Council Matters for the deputy chief of staff of operations at USAF headquarters, has been tapped for his first star and assignment as the director of current operations for the deputy chief of staff, operations, at headquarters Air Force.
  • Col. John Walker, the director of Joint Staff Legislative Affairs, has been selected for brigadier general and to be the director, Deliberate Air Campaign, and deputy commander of 9th Air Expeditionary Task Force-Afghanistan in Kabul.
