Two Commanders at RAF Croughton Fired

Two commanders at RAF Croughton, United Kingdom, were relieved of command last week following the results of a command-directed investigation. Col. Angela Cadwell, commander of the 501st Combat Support Wing, fired Col. Charles Hamilton, commander of the 422nd Air Base Group, and Lt. Col. Matthew Olson, commander of the 422nd Communications Squadron, on March 13 after losing confidence in their ability to lead, spokesman Capt. Brian Maguire told the Daily Report. “This action was more about leadership style and organizational climate than a specific event,” said Maguire. “Hamilton and Olson are not under criminal investigation, and their removal is not connected.” 501st CSW Vice Commander Col. Brian May has been appointed group commander and Maj. John Riester, 423rd Communications Squadron commander, has been tapped to lead the 422nd CS, said Maguire. “My primary focus is the health, welfare, and organizational climate of this wing,” said Cadwell in a statement. “Everybody in our Air Force should feel critically important to what we do and valuable to the mission, because they are.”
