From Flight to Squadron

The Kentucky Air National Guard’s 123rd Operations Support Flight in Louisville recently became a squadron. “Thank you sincerely for the challenges that you’ve faced in the past, for the work you accomplish today, and for the obstacles that you will overcome in the future,” said Lt. Col. Matthew Groves, commander of the new 123rd Operations Support Squadron, at the redesignation ceremony. The squadron is part of the 123rd Airlift Wing that operates C-130H transports. The flight, which performed functions like intelligence analysis, is one of more than 40 that the Air National Guard is converting to a squadron. The latter is typically larger and usually exercises more administrative control. The ceremony took place in late November, according to the wing’s Jan. 2 release.
