President Obama nominated Lt. Gen. Frank Gorenc for appointment to the rank of general and for assignment as commander of US Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa, announced the Pentagon on June 4. Gorenc has been the Air Force’s assistant vice chief of staff since April 2012. Last month, Obama picked Lt. Gen. Stephen Hoog to be the next assistant vice chief.
