The Air Force needs to shift its focus from a “compartmentalized” approach to air, space, and cyber toward “more integrated, broad-spectrum solutions as the operating standard,” said Gen. Norton Schwartz, Chief of Staff, Wednesday. “We know that now, more than ever, our ability to operate in any single domain relies on a substantial level of control in the others,” he said in remarks before an industry audience in Arlington, Va. He added, “This complexity increasingly requires a wide-angle view of the operating environments.” Along those lines, “close collaboration with our joint partners” and strengthening interagency collaboration will be critical to future successes, he said.
