Mobility Command Functions on the Move

Air Mobility Command is restructuring some of its command and control functions to streamline global mobility operations and expeditionary combat support, command officials announced Wednesday. Under the changes, 18th Air Force, headquartered at Scott AFB, Ill., will focus on C2 of air mobility, contingency response, and en route operations, including the 618th Air and Space Operations Center (Tanker Airlift Control Center), they said. At the same time, the Air Force Expeditionary Center, at JB McGuire, N.J., will concentrate on providing expeditionary combat support, education, and installation support, including at joint bases, they said. The new routine takes effect on Jan. 7. “The warfighter benefits from a centralized C2 structure for our flying operations that capitalizes on the flexibility and responsiveness of our global mobility enterprise,” said Lt.
