The latest news about the states vying for the Air Force’s new Cyber Command includes a Nebraska effort to purchase 135 acres south of Offutt Air Force Base outside Omaha and a letter-writing campaign launched by California residents near Beale Air Force Base, reports The Shreveport Times. The California interest has come late to the game, joining earlier entrants Louisiana and Nebraska. The Air Force has said it plans to make known the preferred location for the new command later this year after it stands up provisionally at Barksdale AFB, La., on Oct. 1.
