All Together Again:

The Air Force has ascribed the heritage of the 76th squadron that flew under the Flying Tigers banner in World War II to a new unit assigned to the 23rd Wing, transferring it from the 76th Space Control Squadron at Peterson AFB, Colo., to the new Air Force Reserve Command 76th Fighter Squadron at Moody AFB, Ga. The 76th FS will serve as an associate squadron with the 23rd Wing’s 74th and 75th Fighter Squadrons. Bringing all three squadrons together under the 23rd Wing recreates the squadron unit arrangement of the original Flying Tigers, which fought under the 23rd Fighter Group, reports Corey Dahl. A lineage transfer ceremony took place last week at Peterson, where Col. Steve Arthur of AFRC’s 442nd Fighter Wing at Whiteman AFB, Mo., accepted the 76th Tactical Fighter Squadron flag. Reservists of the 442nd FW will comprise the new 76th FS.
