The Electronic System Center’s Weather Systems Division has awarded a $9 million contract modification to Raytheon to implement Phase II of the Joint Environment Toolkit—a single, next-generation weather system that will integrate and possibly replace multiple Air Force weather weapon system components. The current systems that are slated to be integrated or replaced by JET include the Operational Weather Squadron Production System Phase II, the New-Tactical Forecast System, the Army Integrated Meteorological System weather toolkit, and the Joint Weather Impacts System.
The Air Force wants to pump more than $12 billion over the next five years into its new affordable long-range missiles program and recently asked industry to push the flights of some of those munitions beyond 1,200 miles.
