NORAD turns 50 this year and plans to celebrate the milestone with a series of activities both in Canada and the United States. According to a March 20 release, the events will kick off with a gala Golden Jubilee Ball in Colorado Springs, Colo., May 12, the date on which the Canadian and US governments signed the agreement that created the binational command to protect North American airspace. Boeing received a $2.47 billion Air Force contract Nov. 25 for 15 more KC-46s, bringing to 183 the number of Pegasus tankers on contract to all customers, foreign and domestic. The new contract—for Lot 12 of the initially planned KC-46 buy—is to be completed by 2029.
