The Air Force’s Senior Focus Group on Energy received a Presidential Award for Leadership in Federal Energy Management on Nov. 2. In 2006, USAF once again was the largest purchaser of green power in the federal government, and the group issued seven policies to reduce energy consumption further. It was also behind the service’s push to utilize synthetic fuel for aircraft. Other energy awards, these from the Energy Department, included a gold award to Kirtland AFB, N.M., for the highest score in energy efficiency, cost savings, innovation, and other criteria.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
