Both Boeing and Lockheed Martin submitted their proposals to build the space segments for the Transformational Satellite communications system on July 30. The Space and Missile Systems Center at Los Angeles AFB, Calif., issued the final request for proposals in June. SMC expects to award a contract in November.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
