The US Air Force Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB, Calif., is kind enough to share some of its mystique with select senior DOD civilian and military leaders—in a short course tailored to meet their “expectations,” says Lt. Col. Dale Parsons, TPS director of special courses. The most recent one focused on core competencies of flight operations, maintenance, and engineering. It even included flights to demonstrate flight test theories in practice.
The six-week government shutdown did not affect the hours flown by Air Force pilots, a service spokesperson told Air & Space Forces Magazine—avoiding what could have been a major blow at a time when flying hours are already lower than they have been in decades.
