The chairman of the House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee, Rep. Terry Everett (R-Ala.) says in a statement about the recently passed 2007 defense authorization bill, that he managed to secure $1 million for the National Space Studies Center, part of Air University at Maxwell AFB, Ala. Everett notes that the million dollar prize will go toward an evaluation “of the importance of space to US national and economic security.”
