Gen. Lance Lord of AFSPC says that last week’s Pacific Space Leadership Forum provided an opportunity for Pacific theater allies to learn what space can do for them. In a Daily Report interview, Lord said, “Space is helping us deal with the tyranny of distance”—a major issue in the broad area that falls under US Pacific Command. He also explained that America’s allies in the Pacific may not have much indigenous space capability, but US allies want “to be full players” in space development—combining their space efforts with those of the US.
The Space Development Agency says it’s on track to issue its next batch of missile warning and tracking satellite contracts this month after those awards were delayed by the Pentagon’s decision to divert funds from the agency to pay troops during this fall’s prolonged government shutdown.
