Bagram Medics Move Patients:
Airmen of the 455th Expeditionary Operations Group Aeromedical Evacuation Flight at Bagram AB, Afghanistan, have flown, since September 2005, more than 80 missions, evacuating more than 300 patients to facilities elsewhere in Afghanistan and in Germany. The flight comprises approximately 30 personnel, including nurses, doctors, med techs, med logisticians, respiratory techs, and others.
The Air Force has embraced new technical approaches like open mission systems and rapid software updates for cutting-edge aircraft like the B-21 and Collaborative Combat Aircraft. Increasingly, though, the service is also working to apply these to its older, “legacy” aircraft, officials said this week.
