Air Force Space Command already has targeted the 564th Missile Squadron at Malmstrom AFB, Mont., reports Associated Press news service. AP obtained a copy of a memo from Chief of Staff Gen. Michael Moseley to Lt. Gen. Frank Klotz, AFSPC vice commander, in which Moseley concurs with AFSPC’s recommendation to deactivate the unit with the oddball missiles. Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.) has seen the handwriting on the wall and has been engaging the Air Force and DOD in discussions about new missions for Malmstrom.
The Space Force should take bold, decisive steps—and soon—to develop the capabilities and architecture needed to support more flexible, dynamic operations in orbit and counter Chinese aggression and technological progress, according to a new report from AFA’s Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies.
