USAF and NRO leaders sign a statement of intent to improve cooperation. Among the new terms, the Air Force will assign a two-star general officer to serve as NRO’s principal military advisor and third in command, and the NRO will assign a civilian to work with Air Force Space Command as its deputy director of operations.
The Air Force wants to pump more than $12 billion over the next five years into its new affordable long-range missiles program and recently asked industry to push the flights of some of those munitions beyond 1,200 miles.
