The Department of Defense announced Friday that Raytheon has been awarded a $1 billion foreign military sales contract to provide an early warning radar system for Qatar. The contract is a result of a sole-source acquisition and will be managed by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Hanscom AFB, Mass. The work will be performed at Woburn, Mass., and is expected to be completed by June 30, 2021.
Depot-level maintenance took longer than expected for nearly three-quarters of Air Force aircraft from fiscal 2019-2024, according to a new report, as unplanned repairs rise across the aging fleet. The report, from the Government Accountability Office, also found that the extent of the delays has been masked because officials often revise their target timelines after unplanned work occurs.
