According to an Abilene Reporter-News report, Goodfellow Air Force Base, near San Angelo, Tex., also is under consideration to train the Air Force’s cyber warriors. We reported Wednesday that a trio of Texas lawmakers sent a letter to Gen. Norton Schwartz, Chief of Staff, urging the service to assign the cyber training mission to Sheppard Air Force Base, outside Wichita Falls, principally because Sheppard is losing its medical training mission as part of BRAC 2005 actions. Air Education and Training Command also is considering Keesler AFB, Miss., for the cyber training role.
Anduril and General Atomics will develop their Collaborative Combat Aircraft for the Air Force, beating out Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman, the service announced on April 24. But any of the non-selected companies can compete to actually manufacture the eventual design, the Air Force said.
