Rockwell Collins and Elbit Systems unveiled a night vision compatible display for the F-15 and F-16 Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing System, the companies announced on Monday. The new Digital Eye Piece Night Vision Cueing Display plugs into the Air Force’s currently fielded JHMCS helmets and “will enable pilots with a greater ability to perform successful nighttime missions,” said Rockwell Airborne Solutions Vice President Troy Brunk. Boeing’s JHMCS system projects head’s up display data on a fighter pilot’s helmet visor enabling the pilot to select targets visually at almost any angle using the AIM-9X air-to-air missile, according to a company factsheet. The new eyepiece is compatible with all current night vision goggles and uses the current display symbology, according to the company release. “This NVG solution can be easily integrated with any aircraft and coordinates seamlessly with all versions of JHMCS helmet mounted displays,” said Mark Hodge, Elbit vice president for business development. “It’s plug and play,” he added.
